November 06 making a differencewow... this year has flown... its like a blink of an eye... and im already into the final 6 weeks of teaching - then i can finally say ive had one real crazy year of teaching! well, it hasnt been THAT crazy... technically, ive had 5 years of teaching experience! anywayz, im so blessed to have such wonderful support at my current school - the principal, staff, and parents have been wonderful! - and no, i havent forgotten my beautiful kids! they are the reason why i love this job so much :)
teaching is all about making a difference in children's lives... can you believe it? the very first day of school for some of these kids... they were clinging onto their mum's legs and begging their parents/guardians to not leave them behind! and now... after school everyday, they refuse to go home... they give me this great big hug... and say "I love you".... "I miss you"... sweet, huh? no other job can be this rewarding... you know that you've made a difference in their lives... and parents/guardians that come after school to tell me that their kids have improved in behaviour, that they love school and they'll come to school even if its the weekend... ahh... what a wonderful feeling :)
kids are humans too... we all make mistakes... and we all deserve a second chance! but dont fall into the trap of only thinking little kids are sweet... older kids are great too... i guess its just a lack of understanding by the teacher... little kids say "I love you"... and when they hit puberty, attitude kicks in, and they start hating you... its a challenge i think, im always up for a challenge... sometimes, i feel that these kids just need some more attention... if teachers have the patience to just listen to what's floating in their minds... at least we can piece together the child's problems.
making a difference for at least one child, is enough to remind myself that i love children and teaching...

November 03 to find someone you like...Do you wanna know why I love reading (especially biographies)? It's because I have the opportunity to leave what I have in this current life and escape into a different life... and I realise that life is so complex... everyone has different experiences, different approaches to life... and it makes us who we are - special and unique!

July 21 smile :)You know what really makes me upset? is seeing people sad... if i had just one wish, it would be happiness for each and every person in this world
okay, i know im not being realistic, call me a dreamer, silly, stupid, crazy... wotever! - but dont get carried away :P
i know life is not always 'happy happy, joy joy' but life is about choices... we can choose to be who we are... what we want, how we behave etc... i know we have our rough days, i know that not everyday is perfect - but one thing for sure... we are given an opportunity to exist in this beautiful world.. an opportunity to live every single day to the max. No matter how tough the situation or problems that seem unsolveable... we need to take time to smile, breathe... remember the good things in life, the things that make us happy...
choices in life? we can choose to smile...
i love smiling... do you ever get the feeling that when you smile at someone, they will always smile in return? :) ahh... smiling is contagious...
we need to forgive and forget - we need to remember the good in the past, look forward to tomorrow, and cherish today because we are given this opportunity... life is too short... every day is valuable... live it up!

Romeo and Juliet - aahhh... i love Shakespeare...! ^^v reading his books at the moment... its great! :)
The Chinese have their own tale of Romeo and Juliet and of course, it takes place thousands of years before Shakespeare was even born. This story of star-crossed lovers is set in the Jin Dynasty (265-420)!!
Unlike Romeo and Juliet, the social prejudices of the time separated the two lovers, not a family feud. Like Romeo and Juliet, the “Butterfly Lovers” story has been made into a very famous concerto and also various incarnations in opera, movies, etc. The “Romeo” is Liang Shan Bo and the “Juliet” is Zhu Ying Tai, but these names are mixed in the song title and lyrics with their Shakespearean equivalents.

June 27 what if...what if something is great, really is great...
but its not as great as something greater?
what should i do then? can you answer that one for me?! i guess it depends on the subject matter...
do you believe it? that life can be such a mystery... one's life questions can be so difficult to answer sometimes... maybe i should write it down, take out a calculator, twitch my nose (that is.. if i can), work out sums that have an infinite answer... ahh...
anyway, it doesnt matter how i work it out or how the world thinks i should answer questions
cos i do believe in myself... im confident, im strong, im independent, and most importantly... im happy... just take life as it is... waiting for the next step in my life... cant wait! life is full of mysteries!

May 27 Autumn LeavesJust the past weekend, I went for a walk down the streets of my neighbourhood... I love Autumn... the leaves fall softly onto earth and the pretty shades of red, orange and yellow... colour the streets... its... really nice :) and dont you love the smell of Autumn? especially in the morning... the air is so fresh and crisp... i love my morning/arvo walks... in the morning it can be extremely cold, but hey... i love the minute the sun appears from the horizon and you can feel the subtle warmth radiate onto my face... argh... despite the damage the sun can do to my eyes (i lost my sunnies... at an ECU volunteering event - and i loved those sunnies!)
back on track... yes, Autumn leaves... wow... can you imagine what the streets would be like if it was smothered in Autumn leaves? it would be an awesome sight... okay, maybe not smothered (that would be freeaky)... um, mostly covered ;) anyhow, this weekend... i'm going to check out this street nearby my house... the trees, i think its some sort of Maple tree... but its amazing! the leaves on this tree are entirely redish-orange - its so cool! do you think i'll get arrested for shaking the tree until the leaves fall off? most likely... and it'll look weird... what's this gal doing hugging the tree? or from a distance it may look like something else lol... ahh... i'll just nature take its course... but a little bit of help can help speed the process :P God, please forgive me...

May 26 Love is simpleLOVE - what do i believe? love is simple... love is when you can laugh out loud and you dont have to explain... you do crazy things because you're in love, well - not too crazy :P love is when you're accepting of their past, and living today - it doesnt matter what they look like or if they have their on-going bad habits (that drives u completely insane) - even so, you're willing to forgive and accept - sometimes, thats the funny thing about love - even if they had one hell of a history, if you love them, you'll wont hold a grudge against them... does it matter if they were once engaged/married? does it matter if they are from a lower-socioeconomic status? does it matter if they are in a different country? it doesnt matter... it doesnt matter at all - if you love someone, you'll trust them and they'll always live in your heart forever.
Why do couples engage and get married anyway? its only a contract on paper (what a waste of trees) - you're proving to the world that you're married? your heart belongs to yourself, its not binded to a contract... only YOU know if you really and truly love someone :) but anyway, its a special day for the bride and groom! - at least its a day of celebration and photos, and a whole lifetime of wonderful times to share with that special someone.
I'll always remember this quote "The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love and be loved in return" - its true... love is simple :)
oh my god... im loving this song!! :) its such a simple easy-listening happy kinda song... but i guess that's what real love feels like... you're happy and it doesnt matter what other people say and think, its between you and that special someone :)

this year has been a wonderful year.. i learnt so much.. from family and friends.. 2007 is 'round the corner.. something tells me Year 2007 is going to be an exciting one! I'm going to miss my friends - especially the onez that are leaving to overseas! boo hoo.. *sobz* i guess it's part of life.. geez, i hate goodbyes :( but at we'll meet later on in life :) thank-god for modern technology :) you guyz better keep in touch, or else I can't do much 'bout it :P

September 17 bye bye kiddies... Miss Ip will remember you all!!WOW... the 4 weeks have flown..
I've had an overwhelming 4 weeks of teaching practicum..
I taught 48 children.. and oh boy... I miss them all like crazy now...
they are the sweetest bunch of kids I've ever met...
I can still remember the little kiddies calling me 'Mrs. Ip' instead of 'Miss Ip'... hehe, they are so cute... and every morning, I get a great big hug from them.. sweet huh?!
I've learnt so much in the 4 weeks... I'm becoming more confident... and willing to take on the challenges...
oh my goodness.. I tell you... its a lot to take for 4 weeks!!... a range between - kids getting human faeces on their shoes... to severe allergies such as bee stings and peanut allergies... its been interesting...
the human faeces? - you may ask...
well... its a long story... two little kiddies stepped in human faeces... how can we tell it was human and not dog faeces? well... dont ask me... I DON'T DO POO... I ain't goin' anywhere near that stuff... well, eventually we blamed it on the kindergarten kids... hehe

June 25 two week teaching practicum!its good to be freeeee!! no more exams... aren't i lucky?!
now i've got my two week teaching practicum, one-on-one with this super cute kid :O)
he's brainy.. which makes me nervous.. what if he's smarter than me?!.. aiya.. i guess i'll worry tomorrow..
cmon michelle.. get a grip... calm down.. its ONLY a few literacy assessments.. how complicated can it get?!
hope this kid doesn't read super-fast like he did the other day.. damn.. i forgot to buy candy.. to bribe him!
cmon.. i'm sure all you teachers out there have used the bribery trick! it works.. especially with 8 year olds!
anyway.. back to work.. lesson planning.. teacher's nightmare.. what are the learning experiences? what teaching strategies would i use? any genuine conversations to start off with? aarrgghhh!!
dont get me wrong.. i'm lovin' what i do :) i really do :)
8:30am start tomorrow morning... ZZZzzzZZZzzzzz... hehe..

I have learnt that living life can be difficult - its NOT easy, i know...
I have made mistakes, BIG mistakes... but I am human
I will never regret the mistakes, the many wrong turns that I have made in life
Life is too short to worry about small mistakes...
Because I value and learn from these mistakes, I can be a better person that I hope to be today :o)

i'm a little confused here...
can someboy please provide me with the definition of a "mid-semester break"?!
i'm over half way into my mid-semester break.. and i still dont know what it means... sigh...
does it mean that i frantically complete my assignments...? no...
does it mean that i relax and do nothing at all? no... everyone has to party... am i right?!
i think i'll have to swim a little deeper to find out the true meaning of "mid-semester break"
anyway, life is too short to think too much!
i'll enjoy it... wherever the wind takes me :o)
